MBA is a professional degree program. Students begin studies with
a wide variety of academic and work backgrounds. MBA curriculum
requirements range from 30 to 48 credit depending upon these
experience. Courses are presented in four general categories.

From 0 to 18 credits of foundation
(500 level) classes. This is designed to bring all students up
to the same preliminary level before commencing with the common
body of course work. Foundation courses are waivable (or
challengeable) on the basis of academic and professional
experience.

Eighteen (18) credits of Core (600
level) classes. The 600 sequence represents the common body of
topics and skills that MBA’s are generally expected to possess.

Nine (9) credits of Elective (700
level) courses allow the student to customize a curriculum,
teach teamwork, and challenge MBA students to make real
applications of their MBA skills.
Students in the joint MBA /GU program
will be able to complete the 48 credits by following the tracks as
follow : students will be able to waive 18 credits of Foundation
(500 level) classes from MBA. These 18 credits may be selected by
choosing the courses listed in Appendix A as 500 level Foundation
courses. Students will also be able to earn 6 credits a MBA
(transferable to Gannon University) as electives equivalent to 700
level courses listed in Appendix B (excepts Business Policy, GMBA
799) and will earn the remaining 24 credits at Gannon University
to complete a GU MBA degree.
It is anticipated that the work at BBIT will take one to two
semester(s) and the remaining 2 to 3 semesters at GU allowing the
students to graduate no later than at the end of two years.
Terms of Transfer
Students desiring to transfer from BBIT to GU will follow the
standard application for international students. However, those
students who complete 24 credits at BBIT in the GU-BBIT MBA
program with and average of at least 55% (corresponding to a GPA
of approximately 3.0 in the USA) marks, and obtained satisfactory
scores in TOEFL and GMAT (GMAT is waived if student obtains and
average 60% marks in B-Tech Degree or in 24 credits taken at BBIT)
will be guaranteed transfer of admission, and entire 24 credits
will be accepted (18 credits waived as foundation courses if less
than 55% (corresponding to a GPA of approximately 3.0 in the USA)
mark were obtained in that course thus increasing the total number
of credits required at Gannon. Students are encouraged to complete
the full 24 GU credits at BBIT in order to maximize their
opportunity to finish their degree in two (plus summer session) to
three additional semester at Gannon University. Those who have not
met the above credit requirements may apply for admission to GU as
well, but they may have to take additional courses at GU.
Visa Acquisition :
Students, who successfully complete the BBDIT Components of the
program and are admitted to GU, must obtain a Students Visa from
the United States Consulate in order to enter the United States
with F-1 Students status. GU is authorized by the federal
government t admit non-immigrant Students and to provide them with
the I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Student Status in
accordance with the regulations of the Immigration and
Naturalization Service. In order to qualify for an I-20, an
admitted student must provide verification of finances to cover
three semesters of study at GU, Pennsylvania.
Obtain two financial certificates from a bank verifying the
availability of funds for two semesters of tuition, fees and
living expenses at GU. Original bank certifications are required.
They must have been issued in the past three months and should
indicate the specific sum available. If the financial certificate
is issued in the name of a parent or other family member, the
sponsoring family member should provide a statement of support
clarifying his/her intent to provide funding for the full period
of study in the United States.
The Center for International Programs at GU provides information
and assistance to prospective students so that they may obtain a
visa to enter the country and to continue to maintain good
standing with the Immigration and Naturalization Service
throughout their stay in the United States.
Note : that issuance of a student visa is at the discretion of the
United States Consulate. Consular officers may require additional
documentation including TOEFL, university transcripts, or
additional financial statements.
Temporary Employment Opportunities in the United States
Graduate students with outstanding academic achievements may be
able to find summer training and employment with local industries.
There are a number of high-tech industries like IBM, Philips and
General Electric in the surrounding area.

These new
programs offered by BBIT in Computer Science and Engineering
articulate with the GU curricula in Computer in Computer Science
and Engineering. GU graduate program in Computer and Information
Science and Embedded Software Engineering is offered under three
tracks – thesis, field study. Research, and project course
options. All these options require a total of 30 credits. Students
opting thesis option require a total of 24 credits of course work
and 6 credits of thesis. Students opting field study research may
choose 3-6 credits to complete the same, and the project course
option require the full 30 credits as course work.
Plan A (Thesis)
The candidate
will be required to submit a 6 credit thesis as part of the 30
credits of graduate course work and pass a final oral examination
on the thesis material and related subjects. The thesis work must
be approved by the academic approval sequence prior tot the
commencement of the research work. The thesis advisor will direct
the student’s work and determine when to recommend the manuscript
for review by a faculty committee. The review committee will be
appointed by the usual academic approval sequence and will consist
of as least three full-time Gannon engineering faculty member
familiar with the subject material and one member from outside the
ECE department. The outside member from outside the ECE
department. The outside member can be from industry. The advisor
will be the chair of the review committee.
Plan B (Project)
The student
will be required to complete a design project and to pass a final
examination covering the student’s project and related subject
areas. The project can be worth 3 or 6 graduate credits as part of
the 30 credits of graduate course work depending on the difficulty
of the project. The project must be approved by the usual academic
approval sequence prior tot the commencement of the project work.
The project advisor will direct the student’s work and determine
when to recommended the manuscript for review by a faculty
committee. The review committee will be appointed by the usual
academic approval sequence and will consist of as least three
full-time Gannon engineering faculty members familiar with the
subject material and one will be the chair of the review
committee.
Plan C (Project Course):
The student
will be required to complete a 3 credit course designated as a
project course. The project course will be approved by the usual
academic approval sequence prior to the commencement of the
project work and must include a significant project for its
completion. The course instructor will inform the student of the
complete requirements for the project course and will be
responsible for seeing that the student satisfies these
requirements. Students are requirement to prepare a manuscript in
thesis format for the project Students shall be required to make a
formal presentation of their work

studying for MS in Computer and Information Science will choose to
study in one of the concentration areas :

Students in
the joint BBIT/GU program will be able to complete the same 30
credits by following the track as follow; students will be able to
transfer 9 credit of graduate course work form BBIT, and will earn
the remaining 21 credit at Gannon University to complete a GU M.S.
degree. These 9 credits may be selected by choosing any of the
courses (or their equivalents) listed in Appendix A.
